Bio

          Cleveland McKay Nicoll is based in Boston, but was raised in Salt Lake City. He graduated from Utah Valley University with a BFA in Theatre Arts, and is one of the three co-founders of Klouns Theatre Company. A theatre troupe dedicated to bringing joy and connection to individuals and communities.
          Though directing has become his main focus, he has performed as an actor in multiple theatrical productions. His favorite roles include Hedwig in Hedwig and the Angry Inch, Edward Ferras in Sense and Sensibility, and Les Kendall in the U.S. Premier of Baz Lurman's Strictly Ballroom. 
          He has also tried his hand in writing and adapting plays. His adaptation of Tartuffe was produced by UVU as part of their 2018 Main Stage season. UVU also produced his 10-minute play The U.S.S. Cortex later that year as part of their Short Attention Span Theatre Festival. His most recent adaptation, The Tempest was produced by Renaissance Now Theatre & Film as part of their 2021 Season.
          In 2021, he joined the Stage Directors and Choreographers Society (SDC) as an Associate Member.
